Not at all! Marriage and Family Therapists are trained to work with individuals, couples, and families. While my training includes a strong focus on relationships and family systems, I primarily work with individual clients seeking support for a variety of concerns. My systemic training allows me to consider the many relationships and experiences that shape a person’s life, whether or not family members are present in therapy.
-
I primarily work with couples who are experiencing challenges with communication, emotional expression, or feeling disconnected from one another. I also support couples navigating stress related to family dynamics, boundaries, and other relationship concerns that can impact the partnership. Couples therapy works best when both partners are able to engage in a respectful and collaborative process focused on improving understanding and connection. Couples experiencing ongoing high-conflict or crisis-level dynamics may benefit from a higher level of care or a more specialized provider.

Using insurance is not required. Many clients choose to pay privately for a variety of reasons, including increased privacy, flexibility in treatment, or a preference not to involve their insurance company in their mental health care. If you choose not to use insurance, you are welcome to utilize my self-pay rates. Please visit the Fees & Insurance page for current pricing information.

Finding the right therapist is important. During our initial sessions, we'll have the opportunity to get to know one another, discuss your goals, and determine whether my style and experience align with what you're looking for. If at any point I feel another clinician may be a better fit for your needs, I will be happy to provide referrals to help you find the support that is right for you.
